This is a paper written on the approach of

first correcting stenotic lesions (PTA)

and then performing collateral vein embolization only when necessary afterwards

for arteriovenous fistulas that failed to mature (did not grow properly) after surgery.

Performing PTA alone for vascular maturation

allowed approximately 80% of patients to successfully use the blood vessel,

and collateral vein embolization was performed afterwards as needed,

which can be seen as presenting

a safe and effective approach for the treatment of immature AVF.
